Updated: Origin Beer Co, Edinburgh (proposed) has rebranded as Moonwake Beer Company, and still hoping to launch in 2021.

Happy New Year. Despite the restrictions of 2020, several new breweries have still opened up, or are planned. Hopefully the latest restrictions won’t affect too many breweries long-term.

New breweries added: North Sea Brewery, Rosyth; Copper Fox, Westhill, Aberdeen; Seven Kings Brewery (changed from proposed); Ardgour Ales, nr Fort William; Outlandish Brewing Company, Glenboig.

Proposed: Braemar Brewing Co., Braemar; Isle of Eigg Brewery; Microbrewery planning permission granted, Tongue; Olrig Brewery, Thurso – planning application. Origin Brewing, Leith – planning application granted. Inn House Brewery, Glasgow – planning application. Comrie Croft Hostel – planning application approved for microbrewery. Langbank – planning application approved for microbrewery.

Other: Bute Brew Co changed from closed to proposed (hoping to reopen in 2021). Portpatrick Brewery – awaiting planning permission for new location in Kirkcolm.

In the midst of the coronavirus lockdown, many breweries have suspended production whilst others are providing takeaways or home deliveries. Hopefully most will reopen when the restrictions are lifted.
